Liga Recruitment, one of the Recruit Venture Group’s joint venture partners, is to embark on an epic 160-mile charity cycle ride.
Liam Baynham, one of Liga’s Directors, – alongside his brother Jonathan Bassett and 43 others – will cycle from Chester to Cardiff in aid of the REST charity.
The pair start their journey on May 4th 2018 and are riding in memory of Tom Bassett, a family member who tragically lost his life at the age of 30 while on holiday in Dubai.
Tom, a frequent traveller, was sadly killed after being struck by a drunk driver in May 2017.
In memory of him, and after facing the difficulties of dealing with the loss of a loved one while in a foreign country, Tom’s partner and family established REST.
REST will provide support and financial aid to families who are faced with the loss of a loved one abroad. The charity, which is planning to help families across Wales, will offer guidance and support that will help bring loved one’s home to their families.
At present, REST is in its infancy and Jonathan and Liam hope that this ride will raise much needed funds that will allow it to start helping local families.
“It’s a huge cycling challenge that we’re taking on in memory of our beloved cousin, Tom,” says Jonathan. “After receiving the shocking and tragic news that Tom has been sadly killed last May, we were inspired to carry on his memory by helping others in similar situations.”
“Tom was an amazing person who loved travel and was liked by everyone he met. We felt it right that we help others – it’s what he would have wanted.”
The arduous journey will see the cousins travel across the country, ending in Wales. “We’ll set off from Chester and cycle some 160 miles to Cardiff, finishing at the Tiny Rebel Brewery Bar on May 7th.”
“We are asking everyone to help us achieve our target and raise some much-needed funding that will help get REST started as a charity and, most importantly, create a fitting and lasting tribute to our dear friend and cousin, Tom.”
