MaK move on – in more ways than one!

MaK Personnel and MaK Healthcare have moved in to new offices, and it’s all part of the Great Yarmouth based recruitment company’s continued success.

Just five years on since their launch and MaK are on the move, in more ways than one. The company has grown consistently since it opened its doors and is now one of the leading recruitment businesses in the region.

Specialising in the Industrial  Commercial, Catering and Hospitality sectors, in which they’ve developed an impressive portfolio of clients, the company prides itself on placing high quality candidates into a variety of roles. Within three years of its launch MaK Personnel was a key provider to businesses throughout East Anglia.

2016 saw the launch of MaK Healthcare. Managing Director Kim Russell says, ‘ We saw an opportunity to build on the success of MaK Personnel, but we also recognised that the time was right to meet a genuine need in society. With an ageing population the requirement for skilled and compassionate care staff has never been greater. And it’s a demand that will grow.’

The growth of MaK Healthcare was a key motivation in the company moving to new premises. ‘We needed more space, and in particular more space in which we could hold confidential meetings and interviews’, says Kim Russell. ‘Placing health care workers requires us to comply with rigorous legislation we work to CQC standards and hold in depth discussions with both the candidates and our clients. Our new premises give us  that’.

The team at MaK  have always set the highest standards of honesty, transparency and professionalism, and it’s that ethos, together with a real focus on clients’ requirements that has fuelled the company’s success.

‘Being able to focus on the work in hand is vital’ said Kim. ‘And we were able to do that from the outset thanks to the support of The Recruit Venture Group. Their financial backing was important to us. It enabled us to start the business.  But, just as vital was their continued mentoring and their giving us access to first class administrative systems. It’s what makes a good recruitment business even better. Knowing we had that level of back up is what allowed us to give all our attention to the actual business of recruiting’.

The new premises at 29 Hall Plain Gt Yarmouth NR30 2QD  have been fully refurbished and decorated to be the perfect environment for a busy recruitment consultancy. ‘We’re thrilled to be here’ says Kim. ‘It’s a big move for us –  MaK is moving on – in more ways than one!’.

Liga Recruitment supporting REST Charity

Liga Recruitment, one of the Recruit Venture Group’s joint venture partners, is to embark on an epic 160-mile charity cycle ride.

Liam Baynham, one of Liga’s Directors, – alongside his brother Jonathan Bassett and 43 others – will cycle from Chester to Cardiff in aid of the REST charity.

Liga Recruitment supporting REST Repatriation Services Trust

The pair start their journey on May 4th 2018 and are riding in memory of Tom Bassett, a family member who tragically lost his life at the age of 30 while on holiday in Dubai.

Tom, a frequent traveller, was sadly killed after being struck by a drunk driver in May 2017.

In memory of him, and after facing the difficulties of dealing with the loss of a loved one while in a foreign country, Tom’s partner and family established REST.

REST will provide support and financial aid to families who are faced with the loss of a loved one abroad. The charity, which is planning to help families across Wales, will offer guidance and support that will help bring loved one’s home to their families.

At present, REST is in its infancy and Jonathan and Liam hope that this ride will raise much needed funds that will allow it to start helping local families.

“It’s a huge cycling challenge that we’re taking on in memory of our beloved cousin, Tom,” says Jonathan. “After receiving the shocking and tragic news that Tom has been sadly killed last May, we were inspired to carry on his memory by helping others in similar situations.”

“Tom was an amazing person who loved travel and was liked by everyone he met. We felt it right that we help others – it’s what he would have wanted.”

The arduous journey will see the cousins travel across the country, ending in Wales. “We’ll set off from Chester and cycle some 160 miles to Cardiff, finishing at the Tiny Rebel Brewery Bar on May 7th.”

“We are asking everyone to help us achieve our target and raise some much-needed funding that will help get REST started as a charity and, most importantly, create a fitting and lasting tribute to our dear friend and cousin, Tom.”

Yay! It’s the New Year. What will you be spending your bonus on?

Ah. Awkward. You didn’t get one.

Or if you did it’s not what you expected and it’s not exactly going to change your lifestyle.  Hold the booking for the Bahamas then.

It hurts doesn’t it? Especially as, yet again, you hit the targets, and delivered the numbers. And here it comes again, as predictably as the sales and the holiday commercials, that feeling of ‘if I was running my own recruitment business I’d be in control of my own destiny. I’d actually see something for my efforts’.

But then, (and it always goes like this doesn’t it – be honest) ‘with the mortgage, the bills, and the uncertainty of things as they are maybe not this year. Play it safe. Stay ‘in the job’’.

It’s understandable.

Or is it? Is it really the right thing to do? To, once again, put your ambitions, and your bonus, on the back burner.

Starting your own recruitment business is something that you’ve thought about time and time again. Countless recruitment professionals go through the possibility all the time, and never more so than at the turn of a year.

Experienced, talented and demonstrably successful they process the data that shows that, to all intents and purposes, they are running a business anyway. They find new clients, place the right candidates, and they deliver income. And, with every day, they acquire more experience that fuels their own ideas on how perhaps they could do it better.

Week on week they see opportunities, identify markets and recognise areas of growth. Month on month they refine and fine tune the client and candidate experience, sharpening the usp to the point where they become the go to person.

And year on year it comes to New Year and all that ambition runs into the buffers because to start up on their own means running a risk.

So what business doesn’t have some risk? I fact, what job doesn’t have some risk?

Find a way of starting up your own recruitment business with the risk turned down to the absolute minimum, and of course they’d do it.

At The Recruit Venture Group we provide 100% risk free financial backing for recruitment professionals to start up on their own. Simple as that.

Or at least the basic idea is as simple as that. The full package is rather more detailed. It includes help with the legal aspects of setting up your own business, finding premises, and organising your branding. Then, you get  get full access to our back office and systems, making you industry compliant and fully operational.

You’ll have shares in, and draw dividends from, your own company. On top of that you’ll be able to pay yourself a salary from the  moment you start trading – and the security that gives you is immense. It means you can concentrate on what matters – growing the business. Your business.

Now, we do need evidence that you are one of those seasoned, and ambitious, recruiters that we mentioned earlier. Someone with five years continuous recruitment experience, and three years knowledge of a specific sector in which you can operate. When we get to talk to you we’ll be able to see if your business plan makes sense – and that you exude the drive and passion we expect.

Let’s have a purpose

Let’s cut to the chase. You want to start up your own recruitment business, and we can help.

At The Recruit Venture Group we specialise in just that. We have the experience, and the resources. Not to mention the track record. Over 40 recruitment professionals have become joint venture operations with us and The Recruit Venture Group continues to grow, with turnover in excess of £131m.

As a joint venture with us you get 100%, risk free, finance. We’ll guide you through the legalities, help you find premises, sort out your marketing and give you access to our back office systems so that you’re fully, and reliably, operational from the day of your launch.

On top of all that we’ll nurture you, helping you grow. It will be your business, and you’ll have shares in it, and draw dividends from it. There are no financial setup fees, no administration worries, and you’ll be able to pay yourself a wage every month from the day you launch.

Why do we do it?  Because we have a purpose. And that purpose is to back entrepreneurial recruiters, like you, to build businesses of their own. All of our team know that’s what we do. And they work with us to achieve it.

Without blowing our trumpets it seems that we’re doing the right thing. There have been comments in publications and on social media recently about organisations who either don’t have a purpose, or, and this is perhaps even worse, they do, but they don’t communicate it to their staff.

The comments are driven by some research, carried out by the O.C. Tanner Institute, who found that ‘1 in 5 UK employees don’t know their organisation’s purpose’ and ’41% think that their employer is only in business to make a profit’.

And it gets worse still. It seems that among those businesses that do have a purpose ‘just half of UK employees say that it actually motivates them’.  And -there’s more – ’29% feel their organisation’s purpose does not reflect what’s so important to them’.

Two main things emerge, as far as we’re concerned.

From our own point of view we do, and we’ve already made the point, have a purpose, and we most definitely communicate that to our team. They are all on side and fully aware.

From your point of view you need to be mindful of the need for a purpose in your own business when you start it. Obviously, starting your own businesses is ultimately one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make so make sure it is the right decision for you and your lifestyle. You will want the rewards that you’re probably not getting as an employee. But it goes deeper. Think about the level of service you want to deliver. The ‘ethos’ you want to instill in your team. Think about what will make your recruitment business better than the one you work for, and better than others on your patch. Have a purpose. And communicate it your team.

Doing that of course means you need the time and space to think. The freedom to plan and evolve strategies. The opportunity to not be shackled by details and administration when you could be winning clients, helping candidates and motivating your staff.

It sorts of fits rather well with our purpose doesn’t it? With the level of backing and support we provide you’ll have that liberty and peace of mind to define and deliver your purpose.

Dyer opens his office in Slough town centre and will support regional logistics, fulfilment, production, haulage and transport, and event management business recruit temporary and permanent staff.

“This is a really exciting time for me.” said Dyer “Having dreamed of starting my own agency for a while, it was great to be introduced to The Recruit Venture Group by a former business colleague and joint venture partner. Acquisition grows the largest JV recruitment operation in the UK

Jark Holdings Ltd, the parent company of Jark Ventures PLC has acquired Recruit Ventures Ltd to create The Recruit Venture Group. Their ambition is to grow the largest joint venture recruitment operation in the UK focused on supporting entrepreneurial recruiters launch their own recruitment businesses.

The Recruit Venture Group is now one single business entity with a combined turnover of £131 million and 40 joint venture businesses.

No longer a traditional recruitment business or an investment firm, The Recruit Venture Group is solely focused on funding and supporting top performing recruiters with five years consecutive experience to become successful business owners in their own right. The integration made perfect sense.

“There are many recruiters who truly want to own their own business and they can now achieve this with our business model and support package,” said Paul Mizen, Managing Director

The Recruit Venture Group will deploy its experience, knowledge, and expertise to focus on a single goal of attracting recruiters who want the backing to launch their own recruitment business in the UK.

A structured 10-year plan has been developed to achieve this goal.

By 2027, The Recruit Venture Group intent is to own the largest joint venture recruitment operation in the UK with a combined turnover of £250m and an additional 56 NEW Joint Venture Partners to complement their existing 40 joint venture businesses.

When Chairman John Buckman first launched Recruit Ventures in early 2011, it was done in the belief that there were many recruiters within the industry who truly had the drive and ambition to launch their own business.

John Buckman -Chairman

A unique business model was created specifically for the recruitment industry which offered full support, financial backing and the security and freedom recruiters needed to concentrate on developing their businesses.

Recruit Ventures continued to grow from strength to strength, achieving £3m in year one to £49m by year five and the model went on to inspire many recruiters to launch their own businesses.

JARK, founded in 1996, had already established itself as one of the UK’s largest independently owned recruitment companies with a network of branch-managed recruitment offices operating across many sectors covering the UK.

In 2016 JARK adopted the Recruit Ventures model and migrated from a branch oriented recruitment company to become a joint venture operation itself. 20 new businesses were created, and existing branch and area managers were empowered to become business owners.

“It was a business risk changing the structure of Jark but the Recruit Ventures model enabled us at the time to empower our managers to become business owners in their own right. They are now in control of their own destinies and that is what The Recruit Venture Group is all about,” said  Buckman.

The Recruit Venture Group enables successful recruiters to become business owners, focus all their time and resources on recruitment and grow their businesses fast. The group invests heavily in back office infrastructure to support their Joint Venture Partners. The model provides the ability for a business owner to focus and expand without the restrictions and complications which prevent many new businesses reaching their full potential. Business owners can start a business from scratch and make it profitable very quickly.

The Recruit Venture Group are also strict advocates in letting the Joint Venture Partners lead their business independently.

” It’s their business and we believe there is a fine balance between interfering and supporting,” said Mizen. The minimum we will see anyone will be quarterly.”

The Recruit Venture Group wants to attract more top talent to join the business with plans to expand their back-office teams and support more budding entrepreneurs across the UK.

The old style ‘Head office’ approach to business has been replaced by a robust Central Services team which has become the most financially secure support platform recruiters can access, proven to deliver excellent customer service and support.

The Recruit Venture Group has strengthened the board to drive the 10-year plan forward with the internal promotion of Danny Parr and Neil Rogers to the Board of Directors. Both have many years’ experience of working for Jark Ventures PLC and Recruit Ventures Ltd and also the wider industry.

“It was only right that we recognised the outstanding contributions that Danny and Neil have made to Recruit Ventures Ltd and Jark Ventures PLC in their previous roles,” said Mizen “Their promotions not only strengthens our senior management team but helps us to drive forward our plans and grow the business within the industry.”

He added “Recruiters are by nature, dynamic, ambitious and driven individuals who want to achieve whatever goal they set themselves… Second best is never an option.”

The Recruit Venture Group wants to build the business with people just like that. Those currently working in recruitment, with five years consecutive experience in the industry interested in becoming the boss of their own recruitment business and brand, those with the drive to become successful in their own right.

The model is simple, there is no personal outlay, and the financial security from the outset enables the recruiter to retain their current lifestyle.

It provides 100% funding, no limitations on location or number of branches, full back office support services including HR, IT, Accounts, Payroll, Credit Control and Marketing.

Everything is geared to getting a new business launched and into profit fast, BUT most importantly it is RISK -FREE.

It provides the security and freedom recruiters need to develop their business.
