If you’re an experience recruitment professional, you could be better off as your own brand

These days, your brand is so much more than just a logo… look at your world, define your brand and do it your way!
If you’re an experienced recruitment professional you could be better off as your own brand.
Brand. It’s a key word in business. And it’s become even more important as marketing experts realise that your brand is now so much more than just your logo.

A leading expert has recently talked about how you define and use your brand. What he said was that it’s about looking at your world – and he quoted as examples architecture and, yes, recruitment – and analysing what’s wrong with it. What you then do is set out to change it – which makes your brand successful.

Personally, I don’t think there’s too much wrong with the world of recruitment. It’s an exciting and rewarding sector, and one in which I’ve built many successful brands. But, if you look at your world, I’m guessing that you think what’s wrong with it is that you’re doing all the work and not seeing all the rewards. And that you’d probably like to have your own brand.

You’ve doubtless thought about it. You’ve dreamed of starting up on your own, running your own recruitment business. But of course you’ve been daunted by the size of the challenge. It’s not that you haven’t got the experience, or the contacts. And you’re certainly not afraid of hard work. It’s just the saying goodbye to a regular salary and finding the finance to make that leap is what’s holding you back.

Plus of course, your own experience proves that you’d need systems and software, premises and promotion as well as someone to take care of all the admin while you concentrate on growing the business.

You need to find all of that, and somehow minimise the risk. It seems like a tough call.

It isn’t.

At Recruit Ventures we have a business model aimed at professionals just like you. If you’ve got five years overall experience, and actively working in recruitment then, we can help. We’ll provide you with 100% funding, a guaranteed salary, no personal financial risk and access to a full back office support function to support you start up your own business.

Take a look at your world. It’s time to change it. Be your own brand, and be better off!

If you’re as good as the boss – Be the boss! Start up your own recruitment agency

Have you ever felt that ‘ your boss is not worth the salary they are paid?” Funnily enough, so do half of the UK recruiters feel the same – time to make a change.

If you’re as good as your boss – be the boss! Start your own recruitment business.
Some new research has shown that, amongst other things, ‘almost half of UK employees don’t think their boss is worth their salary’.

Have you ever felt that?

As a busy recruitment consultant, running your own desk, or team, I’m betting that you have. After all, you’re the one making the money. You’re sourcing the candidates, keeping the clients happy and matching job seekers to the roles. You’re the one hitting the targets and making the numbers. And all the time you keep thinking ‘suppose I was doing this for myself. Running my own recruitment business. With everything I’m doing I might as well be the boss anyway’.

Except, of course, it’s such a big step to take.

You know the business, and you know what’s needed to run a recruitment business, let alone start one up from scratch. The systems you use every day, and all the necessary IT that go with them, are easy to take for granted. But how do you source those for yourself? There would be premises to find as well. And that’s without organising sound financial backing, because unless you’re sitting on a stack of capital you’re going to need support to get it off the ground and sustain you through the cash flow demands of the early days when there are probably going to be more outgoings than income – for a while at least.

Plus of course, the dream ticket would be not only affordable financial backing but input from people who actually understand recruitment. Chances are that even if you can find an interested bank manager he or she won’t be an expert in your world so you’ll have a job explaining some of the demands that face a busy new agency.

Oh, and then there’ll be your nervousness at giving up the regular salary. Because, let’s face it, even if you don’t think your boss is worth their salary, they do provide you with yours at the end of every month, which for all your frustrations is at least some sort of security.

The fact is, however, there IS a way for you to be your own boss, to start your own recruitment business, that does deliver that dream ticket – and all the other things you’ll need.

At The Recruit Venture Group we have a business model aimed at professionals just like you. If you’ve got five years overall experience, and 3 years track record in your current role, we can help. We’ll provide you with 100% funding, shares and dividends, no financial risk and access to a full back office support function to support you start up your own business.

Stop getting frustrated by what your boss earns, match it… Be your own boss, and earn what you’re worth.

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing

In the words of Walt Disney, it’s time to quit talking about what if… and begin doing … Start-Up

“The Way To Get Started Is To Quit Talking And Begin Doing.”
Walt Disney, Co-Founder Of The Walt Disney Company.
And never a truer word was spoken when it comes to starting up your own recruitment business. You probably talk a lot to your colleagues, and family, about how one day you’ll start up on your own. How, as an experienced recruitment consultant, you’re running a busy desk or team, and piling in the hours, and results, all for someone else.

You’re not only beginning to wonder if that’s worth it, but you’ve also got ideas of your own. Ideas about how to deliver a better service, a service that’s got your style stamped on it.

The problem of course is that you’re still drawing that regular salary, and taking the leap into running your own show is, when it comes down to it, quite daunting.

Of course it is. You’ll need financial backing. You’ll have to have systems, and support. You’ll need all of that from people who will at the same time allow you to do it your way.

IT and systems aside you’ll need to be hard wired into a business relationship that continues to provide the support you’ll need to grow. Not being tied down by an over zealous investor is one thing; but having to find your own accountancy, legal, branding and development advice is going to take a lot of your time if you’re left on your own. They’re all things that will take you away from what you set out to do – which is run your business, find new clients, and grow.

In the words of Walt then, ‘quit talking’ – at least to your family and colleagues about what you’d like to do – and start talking, to me.

At Recruit Ventures we have a business model aimed at professionals just like you. If you’ve got five years overall experience, and 3 years track record in your current role, we can help. We’ll provide you with 100% funding, shares and dividends, a guaranteed salary, no financial risk and access to a full back office support function to support you start up your own business.

So, to quote Walt again, ‘begin doing’.

If you want to start up your own recruitment business, contact me on jbuckman@recruitventures.com and let’s have a confidential. We might just be able to make your dreams come true!

3 could be the magic number.. for starting a recruitment business

A good recruitment consultant is, in my experience, is someone who not only has entrepreneurial flair, but who is in effect pretty much running their own business anyway.

3 Could Be The Magic Number – For Starting Up Your Recruitment Business
The best people to start up recruitment businesses are those already in the business. That may sound obvious, because they know what they’re doing, but it goes deeper than that. A good recruitment consultant is, in my experience, someone who not only has entrepreneurial flair, but who is in effect pretty much running their own business anyway.

Let’s say you’ve clocked up five years or more since you started. Chances are you’ve now been running a team or a desk of your own and in which you’ve become a specialist in the sector you operate in. And it’s likely that you’re turning over a significant figure.

BUT you’re turning it over for someone else of course, and you probably think, about 3 times a day, ‘why don’t I start up on my own? Do things my way?’

But of course you look around you and see the fully operational systems and back up and, no matter how stressful it gets you can look forward to that regular salary payment in the bank at the end of every month. Which, for all its regularity, never seems to get much bigger no matter how much busier you get.

Once again, you smother the dream, bite the bullet and carry on.

The point is, that with around a significant turnover going through your desk, and, let’s say, 3 years experience in a particular recruitment sector, you’re more than capable of taking the leap into starting up your own business.

So suppose there was a way of doing it without the worries that have held you back so far. There is.

At Recruit Ventures we have a business model aimed at professionals just like you. We’ll provide you with 100% funding, shares and dividends, a guaranteed salary, no financial risk and access to a full back office support function to support your start up business.

3 could be your magic number. Don’t think twice. Contact me on jbuckman@recruitventures.com and let’s have a confidential. We might just be able to make your dreams come true!

A fun and positive role that should be rewarded for those that deliver results!

I read a piece that addressed the question of ‘what is a recruitment consultant?’ One of the quotes in the blog was this – ‘It’s a fun and positive role that should be rewarded for those that deliver results!’

The Recruitment Business – A Fun And Positive Role That Should Be Rewarded For Those That Deliver Results!
I’m not the only one who writes blogs about the world of recruitment. A couple of years ago I read a piece that addressed the question of ‘what is a recruitment consultant?’ and talked about working in the sector.

One of the quotes in the blog was this – ‘It’s a fun and positive role that should be rewarded for those that deliver results!’

Who would argue with that? It’s hard work yes, but there is fun in the business. You meet a lot of people, you do business, hit targets. And you provide a valuable service, helping companies to find the people they need.

Are you always rewarded for delivering the results though? Maybe there is some argument there! The problem is that to earn the salary, you have to deliver the results. And that means going that extra, self starter, entrepreneurial, mile. Which is fine when it’s your business but frustrating when it’s not.

The answer then would appear to be that if you want to keep the fun alive, stay really positive – and see the rewards – you should be running your own business.

So that becomes your goal, except that when you think about it you start to wonder if starting up on your own would actually take the fun out of the job. There are start up costs, cash flow worries, systems to get up and running, and the demands of actually running a business. The invoicing. The accountancy. All the things that would take you away from what you do best – which is recruiting.

If only, you think, there was way to get started, be supported, and have the freedom to get on with the best bits.

Well here’s the best bit. There is a way.

At Recruit Ventures we have a business model aimed at professionals just like you. We’ll provide you with 100% funding, shares and dividends, a guaranteed salary, no financial risk and access to a full back office support function to support your start up business.

In fact we can create for you a fun and positive role that will be rewarded for those that deliver results!

I really do know how to start-up a recruitment business!

Our Chairman John Buckman explains why he really DOES know what he is talking about when it comes to setting up recruitment businesses and helping others achieve their dream.

I Really Do Know How To Start-Up A Recruitment Business!
I post a lot of blogs on our website, and elsewhere, as you’ve probably seen. You’ll also have seen that I write a lot about what we do, and how I believe we can really help recruiters like you start up their own businesses.

So I thought perhaps it was time to tell you a bit about me, and why I know what I’m talking about.

First off, our business model is based on joint ventures. I know about that because I’m a joint venture myself. My business was set up with the backing of a partner who trusted me to get on with running it, but provided the support I needed. It worked, which is why it’s the basis of what we offer today.

Having run a recruitment business, and built it into a profitable and successful enterprise, I can now trust my talented management team to steer it. That’s given me the time to put my efforts and expertise into helping other people do what I did.

Five years ago I launched Recruit Ventures and it’s unique – and I choose the word carefully – business model. Since then we’ve financially supported and helped 46 (at time of writing – things move quickly!) people start up their own recruitment businesses.

The model really does work! Over the past year, the joint venture businesses we have supported have collectively achieved £130m worth of sales and generated £6.1m in owner profits.

entrepreneur

As I so often say, there’s a strong entrepreneurial flair in most recruitment consultants, and in a way I’m the proof of that. From running a business, as a recruitment professional, I’ve utilised my entrepreneur flair to help others. The point is, the enterprises I’ve funded and supported are recruitment start-ups. Because I know that sector, and I know how it works.

I also know about hard work too. Getting here wasn’t a walk in the park. My guess is you’re not afraid of hard graft either. It’s just that you’re starting to think that it would make more sense if you saw the rewards of that effort yourself.

You can do it. The Recruit Ventures business model is specifically designed to get you started and support you as you grow. But ultimately it is your business. we just make the entire process from proposal to launch simple.

We offer 100% funding to launch with a guaranteed salary from day one of trading, no personal financial risk and access to a full back office support function to support your business with IT, Accounts, HR, Payroll and Office so you can concentrate on what you do best … recruit

So if you’re a recruiter with five years plus experience and actively working in recruitment , I want to talk to you!

I really do know what I’m talking about.

Starting up a recruitment business doesn’t mean starting from scratch
Starting up any business is a big step, and there are a lot of things to consider. Leaving aside the obvious question of what sort of business you’re going to be, there are the issues of finance, premises, the IT and back up you’ll need, and that’s without planning for the jump from employee to employer – with its cash flow demands in the early days.

Starting from scratch is not easy. In fact it’s so daunting that some people simply don’t do it. They put their dreams on hold.

If you’re in the recruitment business it doesn’t have to be that way. Firstly, the choice of which business to go into is obvious. It’s going to be recruitment, and what’s more it’s highly likely that it’s going to be in the specific sector in which you already specialise.

To feel confident enough to want to start up on your own you’ve probably been specialising in that sector for a while now. so. You are a self starter, a team leader, held down a busy desk and racked up a significant turnover – for someone else.

Now you feel that you’d like to do it for yourself, but starting from scratch is scary. It probably is. But you don’t have to do it that way.

You’ve already got the experience, knowledge and desire. And at Recruit Ventures we have a business model aimed at professionals just like you. If you’ve got five years overall experience, and are actively working in recruitment. We’ll provide you with 100% funding, shares and dividends, a guaranteed salary, no personal financial risk and access to a full back office support function to support your start up business.

Starting your own recruitment business – it could be the best way to set your pay scale!

If you’re one of the 25% of UK recruitment consultants who are not happy with their pay and rewards, maybe you should commit to running your own business. And control your own destiny…

Starting your own recruitment business – it could be the best way to set your pay scale!
Last year, REC, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, issued some research findings that showed, encouragingly, that over half of the UK’s recruitment consultants are satisfied with their pay and rewards.

A close reading though reveals that almost a quarter of them are dissatisfied.

If you work in the industry you probably understand where the dissatisfaction comes from. Long hours, hard work, tough targets to hit and running your own desk – all to make your employer richer.

And here’s the interesting thing. ‘Running your own desk’ is not far off running your own business. You’ve got to be the ‘self starter’ (remember the job description when you applied – and how you made sure your CV proved that you were indeed a ‘self motivated person’?) because that’s how it works.

But somehow, no matter how much you get started the pay level seems to stop where it is.

So why not do all of that for yourself? Start up your own recruitment business and control our own destiny. There are plenty of precedents, because the entrepreneurial spirit is something that runs through many recruitment consultants.

The problem is taking that leap. You might not be on the highest pay, but it’s regular pay. You can rely on it.

Starting your own recruitment business doesn’t have to be as risky as you think.

At Recruit Ventures we have a business model that provides recruitment professionals, who have five years plus experience, with 100% funding, a guaranteed salary, no personal financial risk and access to a full back office support function to support their business.

So, if you’re in that 25% of recruitment consultants who are not happy with their pay and rewards, maybe you should commit to running your own business. And control your own destiny. 100%.

Three big worries about setting up your own recruitment business – solved!

Probation periods, customer diversity and inflexibility of outgoing are three problems in the recruitment sector that can affect cash flow… but you can avoid those issue altogether.

Three big worries about setting up your own recruitment business – solved!
In a recent article Tracy Ewen, managing director of invoice finance specialist IGF, outlined three reasons that the recruitment sector is susceptible to cash flow problems. It caught my attention because one of them, probation periods, was something I’d also touched on recently.

Tracy Ewen’s list included probation periods for exactly the same reason as I had. All too often, even with temporary staff, there’s a time lag between placing the candidate and getting paid as the recruiter. That can really hit the consultancy’s cash flow.

The other two problems in her list were ‘customer diversity’ and ‘inflexibility of outgoings’.

The customer diversity point is an interesting one. In most business sectors having a wide range of clients is a good thing. It’s best not to have ‘all your eggs in one basket’. But, as Tracy Ewen points out, within recruitment, having a spread of clients can cause problems. With most clients only recruiting sporadically, as demand for temporary staff varies for instance, and often without a long term, fully committed relationship with one consultancy, the conditions for smooth cash flow are not exactly wonderful.

And then there’s number three. The question of ‘inflexibility of outgoings’. You could say that this is a fact of life – in business and at home. Domestically, your outgoings – the mortgage, the bills – have to be paid and the dates don’t shift. In a recruitment consultancy it’s the same. No matter how many gaps there are in the income flow, you’ve got to pay your salaries and the rent – on time.

Now, there are ways to combat these problems and the article I read was forthright in its encouragement to plan for them.

My point is though that I bet there are many, entrepreneurially minded, recruitment consultants who have thought about setting up on their own and then not gone ahead because they’ve identified those problems and found them too daunting a prospect.

That’s a shame. Because there is way to start your own recruitment business and avoid those issues altogether.

At Recruit Ventures we have a business model aimed at professionals just like you. If you’ve got five years plus experience, and active in your current role, we can help. We’ll provide you with 100% funding, a guaranteed salary, no personal financial risk and access to a complete back office support function of Accountancy, Payroll, HR, IT and office support services to help your start up business.
