Yay! It’s the New Year. What will you be spending your bonus on?

Ah. Awkward. You didn’t get one.

Or if you did it’s not what you expected and it’s not exactly going to change your lifestyle.  Hold the booking for the Bahamas then.

It hurts doesn’t it? Especially as, yet again, you hit the targets, and delivered the numbers. And here it comes again, as predictably as the sales and the holiday commercials, that feeling of ‘if I was running my own recruitment business I’d be in control of my own destiny. I’d actually see something for my efforts’.

But then, (and it always goes like this doesn’t it – be honest) ‘with the mortgage, the bills, and the uncertainty of things as they are maybe not this year. Play it safe. Stay ‘in the job’’.

It’s understandable.

Or is it? Is it really the right thing to do? To, once again, put your ambitions, and your bonus, on the back burner.

Starting your own recruitment business is something that you’ve thought about time and time again. Countless recruitment professionals go through the possibility all the time, and never more so than at the turn of a year.

Experienced, talented and demonstrably successful they process the data that shows that, to all intents and purposes, they are running a business anyway. They find new clients, place the right candidates, and they deliver income. And, with every day, they acquire more experience that fuels their own ideas on how perhaps they could do it better.

Week on week they see opportunities, identify markets and recognise areas of growth. Month on month they refine and fine tune the client and candidate experience, sharpening the usp to the point where they become the go to person.

And year on year it comes to New Year and all that ambition runs into the buffers because to start up on their own means running a risk.

So what business doesn’t have some risk? I fact, what job doesn’t have some risk?

Find a way of starting up your own recruitment business with the risk turned down to the absolute minimum, and of course they’d do it.
