Baby Boomers

If you’re having thoughts about starting your own recruitment business –

spare a thought for the ‘baby boomers’!

Why baby boomers! How does that help me launch a business?

The baby boomers. Sociologists have varying opinions about precisely when the ‘boomers’ started being born, and when the phenomenon stopped. But, in general terms they are the babies who were born between the end of World War 2, when the birth rate soared, and the mid-1960s, when it started to slow down again.

Why are they important to you as a recruitment professional? Do the math’s. They’re the ones who are retiring now. And it’s their disappearance that’s contributing to the ‘skills gap’, which in turn is a driver in creating the ‘candidate-led market’. It all links together. It all adds up and therefore states NOW a good time to start your own recruitment business.

You could argue that causes a problem. Will every recruitment consultant within a hundred miles of you be thinking the same? Will they all be making appointments with the bank manager creating more competition for you in terms of getting funding – and then more competition for you out there in the market? We don’t see it that way.

We see opportunities and we have funds available to see you into business.

A buoyant recruitment market will doubtless drive a lot of would be entrepreneurs to the bank manager. It’s not an unreasonable move. But it could be difficult to get things moving. Banks don’t always ‘get’ recruitment. Even a well-constructed business plan can prove counterproductive. Displaying your in-depth knowledge of the business by highlighting the need for investment in systems and software, as well as making provision for the cash flow squeeze that will come with paying temporary workers before your clients pay you will, chances are, be seen as risk rather than realism. Pitfalls instead of potential.

We don’t see it that way, either.

At The Recruit Venture Group we specialise in backing start up recruitment businesses. Full initial funding is just part of the package. You’ll also receive shares in and dividends from – your own business. You’ll have access to a complete back office and support system. You run the business, without running the risk.

We do need to know that you have experience in recruitment. We look for about five years’ experience, with maybe two of them running your own desk. We’d like to see your business plan.

But once we get you up and running you’ll be able to pay yourself a salary, and that will help enormously in allowing you to focus on building your business.

If you’ve been thinking about it, now is the time to do something about it. Make the most of the retiring baby boomers. Start the business that will be your own baby.

The Discipline Factor

Be disciplined when starting your own recruitment business?

Well, you will, won’t you? Starting your own recruitment business means you’ll be oozing self-control and discipline. It’s all going to be different now. It’s going to be your way.

Interestingly, the ‘Discipline Factor’ emerged from a recent forum and press article as one of the key things that successful people are ‘always doing’. Others, which we’ve alluded to, included being happy, engaging with people you admire and taking ownership.

Freedom to focus on achieving your goals

The ‘discipline’ one though is rather different. ‘Discipline’ it’s said gives you the freedom to put all your focus into achieving your goals. That works when it comes to setting up and running a recruitment business. Focus is vital.

It’s further argued that discipline becomes harder to deliver in a world where we’re so easily distracted; where there’s so much instant gratification’ ‘. Let’s assume that if you’re starting up, and running, your own recruitment business you’re not going to spend large chunks of your day watching box sets on your lap top or playing games on your phone. Let’s just assume that. Shall we?

Dont let instant gratification put you off

Then there’s this. Discipline, it’s said, is choosing between what you want now, and what you want most. It’s about not letting your long term goals be put off or made less important.

Now that’s very relevant. Because if you’re serious about setting up your own recruitment business, first off you’ll have already demonstrated that you have long term commitment. We want to see five years recruitment experience before we consider backing you, which is a fair indication of application.

There’s the question too of how you go about setting up on your own. If one meeting with a bank manager, who often sees more risk than potential, doesn’t get you started, do you stop? If you do you’re going to join the long list of startups that didn’t, and prove the point regarding discipline being about the importance of long term goals at the same time.

If however you carry on, explore the options, and talk to us, then the picture changes. At The Recruit Venture Group helping recruitment professionals start their own businesses is what we do. With zero financial risk, plus shares and dividends, you’re free to concentrate on starting up. With access to a full back office and support system you’re operational from day one.

Paying yourself a salary helps too!

All of which means you have the freedom to put all your focus into achieving your goals. And you will most certainly have focused on what you want most – not just what you want now.

The Recruit Venture Group solution is genuinely risk free and fully funded.

And because it’s so well constructed, by people who understand recruitment, it gives the recruitment start up the chance to focus on the business. To concentrate on long term goals. To be disciplined.

Say Goodbye to being an employee

Say hello to your own recruitment business and goodbye to being an employee

Which on the face of it is fine. It’s where you want to be. Boss of your own business. The stark truth is though that some people do suffer from last minute nerves. Suddenly, all the benefits of being an employee seem very attractive. And equally suddenly all the excitement of being your own boss starts to look more like a risk.

Consider then the possibilities of a really simple way to start your own business.

Strip away all the obstacles of difficult to find finance, the potential risk to your lifestyle and loss of a regular salary to pay those monthly bills, the loss of all the IT support you depend upon and the backup you have as an employee. Now you have to provide everything yourself but strip all of those worries away and what you have is The Recruit Venture Group

The Recruit Venture Groups solution provides more than financial backing. Its total support.

Designed by recruitment professionals, for recruitment professionals, its custom built to let you start, own and run your own recruitment business. We’ll provide 100% funding to get you started. We’ll develop your branding and carry it through from signage to website.

When you’re up and running we’ll help with your payroll, tax issues, HR and IT. You’ll have access to our sophisticated back office, making you as slick as a well-oiled and long established machine from day one.

You’ll be in a position to pay yourself a salary, which means that you’ll have the freedom to concentrate on running the business.

In fact, there wont be much difference to being an employee. Except there will be all the difference in the world! Because this will be your business. Run your way. By you.

So whats now

When it comes to you, we do need to know that you’ve had five years recruitment experience. Some time running your own desk or team would be an advantage too and also the past three years to have been spent working in the same sector you wish to launch your business within. Not an unreasonable request to be honest when you consider just how much backing and support we’ll provide.

So, if you think it’s the time to say goodbye to being an employee, and we’ve made you see that there is a way to do that without the worry and stress, then it’s probably time you say HELLO to us.

Manage your marketing

How will you manage your marketing whilst concentrating launching your startup ?

Several recent surveys of recruitment businesses, of all sizes, have revealed that something they all spend time on is their ‘marketing’.

The inverted commas are not because it’s not real marketing. On the contrary. It’s just that there’s an irony in the current situation. ‘Marketing’ in its widest and fullest sense has never had more media opportunities available for it Press advertising, and bus posters, leaflets and fliers, despite rumors of their digitally induced demise, all still flourish. In a well-balanced and integrated campaign they all still have their place.

There’s TV and radio of course. The broadcast media have never been more locally oriented or capable of such specific targeting. They’ve probably never been more cost effective either – when you’re reaching such a specific audience you’re not buying wastage. And both have a god track record in recruitment.

And of course there’s online. The digital media. Ranging from your own website, to job boards, to e mail campaigns to the social media – they’re all platforms that need to be embraced and exploited in the finding of candidates, the impressing of clients and the building of your brand.

But there’s one other medium. And all the consultants and recruitment businesses that were asked eventually admitted it was still key to them. It was the telephone.

Come what may, whatever media choices and creative opportunities abound, it was down to making ‘phone calls when it came to ‘marketing’ the business.

Now this might not appear to be a problem to the ‘would be’, or new, recruitment entrepreneur. Fired up with enthusiasm and drive, totally committed to building the business and determined to succeed theyre – youre – going to man that phone for as long as it takes. You’ll call every contact you’ve ever had, every new name you’ve collected and every business card you’ve brought back from every networking event you’ve been to. Of course you will.

Except, as the boss, youll have a lot of other things to worry about. The IT, the HR issues, the tax man, the payroll, staff matters..and you want to actually do some recruitment today sometime.

Ok. You don’t mind working crazy hours. Do all that stuff and then get on to the phone this evening. No. That doesn’t work. The people you want to call won’t be there in the evening. And you can’t switch it round, because if you man the phone all day, your team won’t be there all evening to catch up on all those other things.

What you need is the funding and support to allow you to get on with the job

Ultimately it’s as simple as that. If you’re properly funded, and soundly supported, the ‘other things’ will be covered. And that’s where we’re very good. At The Recruit Venture Group our start up package is designed to help you get going, and get growing. With full financial backing to launch your business, plus the autonomy that comes with shares and dividends, you can get on with what you do well. With our complete back office and support system you can do it better.

You’ll be able to pay yourself a salary so you’ll have even more peace of mind, and freedom to concentrate on the business.

So, if you’ve got five years or so recruitment experience, and you’re serious about starting up on your own, we can help. Really help.

We’re not saying that you won’t be using the full range of marketing techniques. (We can help with those too). Nor are we saying that you’re going to spend all your time on the ‘phone.

What we are saying is that with our support you’ll know have the time to do what has to be done. At the right time.

It’s quite a checklist

When it comes to starting up, it comes down to quite a checklist.

When it comes to starting up a recruitment agency, the services you need are of a list in themselves –

  1. IT. Accounts. Payroll. Marketing. Legal Advice….

That’s just for starters. In more ways than one. Because some of them you’ll need before you even open your doors; and you’re going to need all of them to be up and running from the moment you do.

A big checklist of vital requirements

It’s a big checklist of vital requirements, and it’s quite a task to juggle all of it as you try to launch your business. Some of those functions you may be able to handle ‘in house’, but that means taking on, and paying, members of staff before you’re earning anything as a business. Others – like legal services for example – you can outsource, but of course that also means ‘hiring’ the help, and again it means paying out before your income is coming in.

To rub salt into those wounds there are a couple of other issues to address.

Are you good a spinning plates?

Spinning all of those plates when you want to concentrate on setting up and running a recruitment business – so you can get on with recruitment – is time consuming and demanding. It distracts you from the core of the business, and it dispirits you too.

To bring In-house or outsource services ultimately costs you money

If you bring ‘In house’ or outsource, the services, as mentioned earlier, they will have to be paid for. Which means you’ll need to have sorted your funding well before you start acquiring the support you need to run the business. And, of course, seeing all those outgoings before any sign of earnings does tend to make your average bank manager somewhat nervous about being exposed to the risk of funding you.

Which brings it full circle. Except that there’s yet another worry. Over and above the list of services, and the list of things to do in order to be able to even ‘pitch’ to a bank manager, there’s the list of specific recruitment systems you’ll need in order to operate professionally and competitively. They of course have to be sourced, and paid for, which means you need funding – before you can start.

It rapidly becomes a check list of checklists, and they all need ticking at the same time.

A single source of help

So, ideally, a single source of help would be the answer. Somewhere you could turn to for support and guidance on everything from initial funding to operational back up.

The Recruit Venture Group solution is designed specifically for recruiters ready to start ups.

That’s where we come in. To tick all the boxes. Helping recruitment professionals start their own businesses is what we do. With zero financial risk, plus shares and dividends in your own company, you’re free to concentrate on starting your own business. With access to a full back office and support system you’re operational from day one.

We’re there with legal advice to help incorporate your company, we’re with you to find and source premises, and we’re there to provide all those services you need – the HR. IT. Accounts. Payroll. Marketing. Legal Advice.

We’re pretty good on taxation issues too. Not to mention industry research and trends.

We do need to know you’re serious about it. You’ll need to be able to show us you’ve had five years’ experience in recruitment, and that you’ve probably specialised in a sector that you feel you can develop. With our help.

It’s worth getting in touch. It makes for a much shorter checklist.

Risk and Funding

If youre thinking of starting up a recruitment business

We’re prepared to bet on what’s worrying you- Risk and Funding.

Frankly it’s quite a safe bet. No matter how much research is done into business startups, and recruitment startups in particular, the biggest worries, and the main reasons some startups don’t start up, always emerge as Risk and Funding.

An Unhappy Vicious Circle

The irony is that there’s too much of one, and not enough of the other. Bank managers, and other sources of finance, see the initial strain on cash flow as too much risk. Would be entrepreneurs, struggling to get backing begin to perceive their idea as too much of a risk, because they can’t get enough funding. It’s an unhappily vicious circle.

Recruitment Startups are High Risk for the Bank Manager

To be objective about it, there is some validity in some of the opinions that creep in to the process. On paper the idea of a new recruitment business does look like a high risk for a bank manager. High overheads in the startup period, when income is bound to be low is one issue. But then there’s the need for paying temporary workers before the client pays you. And the media costs that have to be paid to attract candidates, before they can be placed, and generate earnings. All of that adds up to risk because, and this is important, most bank managers know about finance but they dont understand recruitment.

You of course, as a recruitment professional, and would be entrepreneur, do understand recruitment, which means you see the potential. But without funding, even you start to see the venture as a risk.

And, again, to be objective about it, there are some risks to you. If you do manage to secure a finance deal it’s probably going to be expensive, it’s certainly going to be another monthly overhead, and it may well have your house tied to it as security.

Your house tied to a loan as security why take the risk?

That’s the house you need to pay the mortgage on, even though you’ve started up on your own and in doing so said goodbye to a regular salary. In fact, the whole of your lifestyle starts to look in jeopardy; because there’s too much risk and not enough funding.

The Recruit Venture Group startup solution is genuinely risk free and fully funded.

Our model has been conceived, refined and developed from years of experience in recruitment, specifically to help professionals start their own recruitment businesses. That’s the first thing; we understand recruitment.

We also understand recruitment entrepreneurs. We know what makes them tick, and what they need to get started.

With us, you run your business, without running the risk. We’ll provide all the funding you need to start up, plus shares and dividends. And, finance aside, we’ll provide a full back office and support system. It’s everything you need to get started, get ahead and get growing.

You get a salary, funding and full support … the perfect opportunity to setup on your own

You’ll be able to pay yourself a salary from day one, which means you can concentrate on the business, and feel safe in the knowledge that you can maintain your lifestyle.

You’ll need to be able to show us you’ve had five years’ experience in recruitment, and that you’ve probably specialised in a sector that you feel you can develop. But if you don’t tick those boxes you’re probably not thinking about starting a recruitment business anyway. If you do tick those boxes, we’re prepared to bet that no matter how keen you are, you’re still worrying about risk, and funding.

Let’s chat about your plans and were sure we can put your worries at bay…

Never feel on your own

You startup your own recruitment business because you want to go it alone but does that mean you actually want to be alone?

It’s a tough call. Your dream is to launch and run your own recruitment business. Experienced now, and knowledgeable about the business, you’ve got ideas on how a great consultancy should be run. But it means taking that big step.

And for some, that step turns out to be bigger than they thought. It wasnt just into the unknown. It was in to the all alone.

For argument’s sake let’s say that the ‘would be’ entrepreneur went to the bank and, armed with a sound business plan, got the finance to launch the business. It will have come with some strings of course, including those ‘never to be missed’ monthly repayments, probably an extra outgoing for an insurance policy to cover it and possibly your house on the line as security. But hey! You’ve got the money to start your business.

Funny thing about those ‘strings’. They’ll tie you in, but they won’t tie you together much. The manager who sorted the deal for you will be no expert in recruitment, and frankly you’re just another loan arranged. So, off you go to run your business.

Alone theres a lot to do.

Getting launched is enough on its own. On your own. You’ll need to sort premises, and all the kit to operate the business. The IT is a big one. Not just the systems and hardware – but the service and back up. Your branding needs designing. Your website needs building. But, you get there. And, doors open for business you’re ready to rock.

There’s salaries, HR, payroll and taxation of course, but onwards and upwards.

Wouldnt it be great if there was someone you could turn to though?

An expert or a mentor? There is … The Recruit Venture Group.

We provide more than financial backing. It’s total support and the great thing about us is that we really do understand recruitment. Yes, we do provide a complete solution for startup recruitment businesses. We give you shares in, and dividends from, your own company. Backed with 100% funding you’ll also have access to our back office systems and support.

Soundly supported you’ll be able to pay yourself a salary, which helps enormously in creating the peace of mind you need to get on with the job.

We’re there to help with all those other services – the IT, the HR, the tax issues and the payroll. All of it.

But it goes even further than that. There’s someone at senior level always there for you to turn to. Someone who knows the business, and will get to know you. You’ll have the guidance and support of a mentor, but you won’t lose any of your autonomy.

It has to be the way.

If you’ve got five years’ experience in recruitment, and you’re serious about starting up on your own, talk to us. We’ll help you startup on your own, but your never feel alone.

Ready, Steady, Go….

Ready. Steady. Go!

The three words that start any race.  They work just as well when it comes to starting your own business.

Ready?

You’ll know when you’re ready. All the signs will be there. You’ll have run the course, notching up five years or so experience in recruitment. It’s likely that you’ve run your own desk, or specialised in a sector. You’ve got the knowledge and the expertise, and yet you’re starting to realise that maybe it’s not fully appreciated.

On a more positive note you’ve got your own ideas; big ideas about client service and candidate care.  Given the chance to do it ‘your way’ you know that you could run a recruitment business that would make a difference. Be different.

You could take that big leap, from being run ragged to running the business. Your business. You’re ready.

Steady.

But this is serious. You don’t launch a business without due diligence. It needs real planning. Take it steady. Jump too quickly and you could leap into a franchise, or settle for being a bedroom recruiter. Neither could be right for you.

An objective and steady appraisal of the situation will soon reveal the big considerations. Legal advice to get a business incorporated. Premises and the necessary leases to sort. Website and branding to arrange. Systems and software to be installed, and to be operational from the minute you launch. And all of that can only be done when you have financial backing in place.

If ever there was a time to take it steady, this is it. You need careful consideration, expert advice and serious levels of support. And yet, the last thing you need is to take it so steady you stifle the dream.

Go!

Go find the best, risk free, fully funded route to make it happen. Which means coming to us. At The Recruit Venture Group our start up package is designed to help you get going, and get growing. With full financial backing to launch your business, plus the autonomy that comes with shares and dividends, you can get on with what you do well. With our complete back office and support system you can do it better.

Able to draw a salary you’ll be in a position to protect your current lifestyle. Covering your domestic costs is something that allows you to concentrate on running your business. It’s peace of mind.

If you’ve got the levels of experience we mentioned, as far we’re concerned you’re ready. Talk your plans through with us. We’ll take it steady, but we won’t stifle. We have everything you need to GO!

Age is more than just a number

The numbers show that, for some, age is more than just a number.

If you’re thinking of starting your own recruitment business you’re doubtless exploring options of how to get financial backing. What’s emerged from some recent research is that, in one funding organisation, some 60% of the applicants were in their 30s and 40s, but funding approvals were highest among those in their 50s.

There are several interpretations to be made from the research, but the overriding conclusion was rooted in this. Any youthfulness, potential and enthusiasm in a younger entrepreneur is cancelled out by older people simply having longer track records of credit, borrowing and, frankly, having more financial data.

It sounds unfair. It is. And it happens every day to people wanting to start their own recruitment business. Having racked up experience – as an employee – they want to put their knowledge and expertise to use in taking control of their own destiny.  But, as an employee they have no real record of owning a business, and therefore represent a greater risk.

It goes deeper than the bank manager or finance provider too. Securing funding to launch is one thing. But there are leases on property to acquire, systems and software to buy, hardware to purchase and services such as IT and legal to hire. They all prove less than accessible when you don’t have a record of trading.

You’re seen as a risk, so inevitably you end up taking a bigger risk by launching with less than robust funding.

But that’s not not how we at The Recruit Venture Group work. We’ll fund you based on what we see as the most important criteria

Factors like having five years recruitment experience. The fact that you’ll have run your own desk, and maybe specialised in a particular sector

Not your age. Not because you have or haven’t run a business before.

But because you know the business, understand recruitment, and you have a plan. Because you genuinely believe you can do it. Your way. A better way.

Our solution for recruitment entrepreneurs is genuinely risk free and fully funded.

Helping recruitment professionals start their own businesses is what we do. With zero financial risk, plus shares and dividends, you’re free to concentrate on starting up. With access to a full back office and support system you’re operational from day one.

Also, from day one, you’ll be able to pay yourself a salary, which gives you the freedom to concentrate on building the business.

Frankly, the only numbers we’re interested in are the same ones you are. Not your age.  Not the number of years you’ve had a bank account.  We figure that the numbers that matter most are your performance statistics. And we’ll be with you to help, guide and support you so that those numbers grow.

Peace of Mind

When youre trying to start your own recruitment business you need some peace of mind. Not a piece of mind!

There’s no point in pretending that running your own recruitment business is a peaceful existence. It’s busy. And demanding. It’s exciting too. And rewarding. But peaceful? No.

That said, you do need some peace of mind. When you’re running the business, building it by winning new clients, and placing more candidates, the last thing you want is to be worrying about your domestic bills. It’s not easy to focus on the job when you’re fending off calls from the bank and credit card company, and your brief case is full of red reminders. It doesn’t help.

In fact, absolutely the last thing you want is to be given a piece of their mind by your bank manager about your personal situation, when youre spending every waking moment trying to create a better future.

That could of course be the same bank manager who proved difficult when you first pitched the idea of starting your own recruitment business.  The one who didn’t see the potential but did see cash flow demands and a risk. The one who, instead of supporting you, gave you a ‘piece of their mind’.

Lets put this in perspective. To launch a recruitment business of your own you need financial backing and serious levels of support.

At The Recruit Venture Group, helping recruitment professionals start their own businesses is what we do. With zero financial risk, plus shares and dividends, you’re free to concentrate on starting up. With access to a full back office and support system you’re operational from day one. With us behind you, your future is your own. It’s a fully funded, risk free route to starting your own business.

But heres the thing. Because youll be able to draw a salary from day one youll be able to pay your bills, and maintain your lifestyle, while you concentrate on the business. Your business. And that really is peace of mind.

Were minded to help you start your own recruitment business.

As we said before it’s what we do but we do need to know some things about you?

We need to know you have five years’ experience in recruitment, and that maybe you’ve run your own desk, or team.

Do you have specialist knowledge of a particular sector?

Most of the people who come to us do. They’re recruitment professionals who want to start on their own. We’re not about to give you a piece of our mind. But together you’ll be certain of receiving some peace of mind as you launch your own business.
